Frequently Asked Technical Questions
Why are defoamers important in paint production?

Defoamers are used to control and eliminate foam generated during mixing, manufacturing, and application processes. By breaking surface bubbles and preventing air entrapment, they help produce a smooth and defect‑free coating film.

Leveling and flow additives improve the spreading behavior of paint on the substrate. They reduce surface defects such as brush marks, craters, or “fish eyes,” and help achieve a smooth and uniform finish.

Anti‑settling additives prevent pigments and fillers from settling during storage. They create a structured network within the paint that keeps solid particles suspended, ensuring easier mixing and consistent product quality.

These additives protect coatings from degradation caused by ultraviolet radiation and environmental exposure. They help maintain color stability, gloss retention, and long‑term durability of the coating film.

Water‑based coatings typically require dispersants, wetting agents, defoamers, rheology modifiers, and coalescing aids to achieve proper stability, application properties, and film formation.
